Though I'm a Lib Dem I entirely agree with your analysis, because the fate of the centre left, and turning back the tide of populism, requires a Labour government doing much more than simply better managing relative decline.I think the state of mind of the Labour leadership is summed up in its attitude to Brexit, namely the deed is done and there's no turning back.

Maybe i'm old fashioned but think he could also have afforded to pay for his own suits....tactical voting yes, but Labour message(s) made it possible.....Treasury is a finance ministry ..hopelessly myopic and short-termist....Wilson was right....we need an economics ministry...

A couple of points:
Designer specs were a mote in the eye compared to Johnsons millions of undeclared freebies.
The labour vote? More tactical in reality. Here voting LibDem to kick the blue donkey out after 150 years (West Dorset).
Treasury … a function of Government, or vice-versa?
