Harmless lazybones distraction or responsible for the assault on the right to vote, to protest, to keep your citizenship, to be saved while drowning at sea etc?
The Conservatives are no longer a political party, more a cult. Its followers, a ragbag of flotsam from a post-imperial society in accelerating decline.
< Quoting from article > Johnson has always been unfit for high political office, as incompetent as he is dishonest.
It is good to read the directness of the quote above. It is also a sad reflection of prolonged indulgence by people who claimed to know the subject better and, arguably, also by failing or corruptible institutions.

A brief clip of an interview with Sonia Purnell, author of 'Just Boris - A tale of Blond Ambition re Johnson as a journalist in Brussels, many years ago.
Perfect analysis. But what is concerning is who replaces Johnson. No competence or decency is evident amongst those currently being considered as successors. They all threw their integrity away when they were appointed to Johnson's cabinet and then agreed to lie for him.
“His political philosophy has never reached beyond personal advancement.” ... let’s just hope both political parties quickly grasp the key lessons .. (starting with need to update the gatekeeping procedures guiding the leadership selection process ...) and the electorate starts to demand real evidence .. (for example, does anyone know how much the NHS costs? ... £180bn or total corporate tax receipts ? ... £65bn ... endless deficit spending and shaking of money tree coupled with isolationist mindset risks taking us back to a past decade of falling incomes and rising costs. Fingers crossed replacement found soon ... and hopefully not a cabinet minister ...
Scathing commentary Philip — and spot-on. I only hope Johnson isn't replaced by the appalling Liz Truss. It's alarming to see Truss being talked up by right-leaning media as 'the new Thatcher' — give me a break! I, personally, disliked Thatcher, but at least she was a heavyweight, unlike the paper-thin convictions of turncoat Truss.
Excellent article I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Personally I'm glad Johnson was elected PM because finally people would come to see this charlatan for what he is and now the scales have fallen from their eyes they realise ithemselves how foolish they were but dare not admit prefer to blame others.
But you're right, damage he and his cohort of incompetents could do is troubling.

Great to have a New York times columnist here :)

The case against him could not be better put. The case for him - such as it was - has collapsed.

Excellent article but his cabinet is active in undermining our “constitution”. Is this Johnson’s political belief system at play?

Yes, but what further damage might he do in that time?
